this story starts with a very old dress i have pulled apart to repurpose into something that I am going to wear. the old dress was cute but not really anything I was going to wear again, but i liked the stripes and really didn’t want to give it away.
I had worn my original cotton princesse tam tam panties to death as they are really comfortable, but they have almost died an undignified death. So i unpicked the old pair of panties so that I could gauge all of the relevant pattern pieces and drafted a simple pattern. i made notes while unpicking so I could remember how the pieces were put together and set to work recreating an everyday pair of knickers.
i am happy with the finished piece and as I was never able to buy all of the colours I wanted from princesse tam tam, I figure i can now make as many as I want and I will never have to buy a new pair of pants again, if that ain’t the most sustainable (ish) idea you ever heard then i don’t know what is.
side note: I am hoping these stripe knickers will go perfectly under my summer pinafore dress, i think they might make the perfect set for the summer (next year obviously) fingers crossed this pans out the way I want it to.
